You MUST commit to all days in which you are signing up for. By registering on SCOPE’s website, you are submitting interest. You must complete this additional paper volunteer application and come to a mandatory in person orientation at a date to be decided. The link for the paper application is below. AI Graphic & Video Design: Canva, Adobe & More (Grades 7–12) One-Week Summer Intensive Explore the cutting edge of digital creativity in AI Graphic & Video Design, a one-week intensive for middle and high school students. This hands-on course introduces students to AI-powered design tools, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, and other industry-standard software to create stunning graphics, videos, and multimedia projects. Participants will learn to combine visual storytelling, typography, color theory, and animation with AI-assisted design techniques to produce professional-quality digital content. Daily projects include creating social media graphics, promotional videos, digital art, and interactive media, all while developing a strong understanding of design principles and modern digital workflows. American Bake it Next Level: Trendy Treats & Techniques invites students to enjoy a hands-on exploration of American summer cuisine through a fun and flavorful mix of baked and no-bake recipes inspired by classic home-style favorites and fairground treats. Throughout the program, budding chefs will create sweet and savory dishes such as mini desserts, creative snacks, and carnival-inspired treats while learning basic cooking techniques, safe kitchen practices, and creative food presentation. With themed activities, collaborative challenges, and taste-testing fun, students build confidence in the kitchen and discover the colorful, playful world of American summer and fair-style cooking.

Grades 7–12 Afternoon – Garden City Summer American Cook-Off: Culinary Arts Challenge (Real Kitchen Experience) Step into a professional kitchen and compete in the ultimate American culinary showdown! In this hands-on afternoon program, students will use real ovens and commercial kitchen equipment to prepare, cook, and present classic and modern American dishes. Participants will build foundational culinary skills including knife safety, baking techniques, roasting, seasoning, timing, plating, and kitchen teamwork. Each session features timed cook-off style challenges inspired by regional American cuisine, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and culinary innovation. The program culminates in a final team cook-off where students showcase their skills in a friendly, high-energy competition. Crime Scene Escape The Room Challenge Step into the role of a forensic investigator in this high-energy, one-week Crime Scene Escape Room Challenge designed for middle and high school students. Participants will work in teams to analyze mock crime scenes, collect and interpret evidence, crack codes, and solve logic-based puzzles to “escape” each scenario before time runs out. Throughout the week, students will apply critical thinking, deductive reasoning, and collaboration skills while exploring real-world concepts from forensic science, criminal investigation, and problem-solving. Activities may include fingerprint analysis, cipher decoding, timeline reconstruction, clue mapping, and evidence-based decision making—all woven into immersive escape-room style challenges. Dungeons & Dragons, Settlers & Chess: Advanced Games (Grades 7–12) One-Week Summer Intensive Step into a week of strategy, imagination, and high-level gameplay in Dungeons & Dragons, Settlers & Chess: Advanced Games, designed for middle and high school students who love challenges and critical thinking. This course combines role-playing, strategy board games, and competitive logic games to engage students in collaborative and competitive problem-solving. Participants will dive into epic Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, master strategic planning in Settlers of Catan, and refine advanced chess tactics, while exploring game mechanics, probability, negotiation, and creative decision-making. On the Spot: Acting, Improv & Stand-Up Comedy (Grades 7–12) One-Week Summer Intensive On the Spot is a fast-paced, confidence-building performance course designed for middle and high school students who enjoy creativity, humor, and self-expression. Throughout this one-week intensive, students will explore acting fundamentals, improvisational comedy, and stand-up performance through engaging, hands-on activities and collaborative exercises. Summer Orchestra Boot Camp is a one-week intensive program designed for violin, viola, cello, and bass students to strengthen technique, ensemble skills, and musical confidence through focused instruction and collaborative rehearsals. Python, JavaScript, AI Coding & App Design (Grades 7–12) One-Week Summer Intensive This future-focused, one-week coding intensive introduces middle and high school students to Python, JavaScript, artificial intelligence concepts, and app design through hands-on, project-based learning. Students will explore how real-world applications, games, and AI-driven tools are built while developing practical coding skills in a collaborative, innovation-driven environment. Throughout the week, participants will write Python programs, create interactive JavaScript projects, and experiment with beginner-friendly AI concepts such as pattern recognition, decision-making logic, and simple machine learning models.
