Vincent Cericola - vcericola@gmail.com NEW!3 Credits – Inservice—Various 5 SESSIONS - July 5 — 9, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM This course will provide educators an opportunity to establish a firm link between curriculum and local marine environs. Opportunities to experience how the development of the metropolitan area has impacted the surrounding region and what is being done to improve the damage that has been caused. This is significant as many curricula possess standards that emphasize connecting their content with the “real world.” This includes: visits to urban marine environments such as Jamaica Bay, NY Harbor School, NY Aquarium, Coney Island. At each site, participants will become submerged in the habitat’s history, resident organisms and ecological significance. You will get a tour of a sewage treatment plant and the New Fulton Fish Market which will enlighten enrollees to how humans depend upon and influence the marine world. Materials and Supplies Fees: : Kayak/Canoe Rental ($40), NY Aquarium ($23) NY Harbor School($20) . Lunch/beverages could also be purchased.Professional Development 2021 - 2022
